Recently I've been experiencing a particularly difficult problem with my desktop hard drive. It has failed and i need the data extracting from it. As I'm located in streatham hill, london I've sent it to Datlab data recovery London branch.

External 1TB Seagate Hard Drive not being recognised by MacBook. Faint beeping on plugging in but drive not starting up. This contains around 800GB of very sentimental photos & videos, which are not backed up. Based in London and can travel so can you look at the drive?

I have many important documents and family photos stored on a Samsung external hard drive. I have never had any problem writing to this drive or reading from it until recently when my laptop and other computers I have tried have failed to recognise it completely when connected via USB. I need to recover as much data from it as possible and am 5 miles south of London.

I have a Seagate Expansion drive that has been dropped and no longer connects to my PC. What would be the cost to recover the data if it is possible.

I was hoping to obtain a quote for the retrieval of data from a Seagate external hard drive. When connected to a laptop the hard drive connection was severed when the hard drive fell off a desk. The 'safely remove hardware' procedure not been completed. After this, the hard drive is no longer recognised by any computer which I have tried the drive in. The computer is aware there is a connection, but it is never possible to open the drive. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers for the hard drive but this hasn't worked. I would be grateful if you could indicate the likely cost of retrieving the files from the drive?

I travel frequently and after my most recent trip my external hard drive ( model: https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00FP50JAG?tag=ps-uk-seagate-01-21) cannot be read. It powers on, I can hear noises coming from it yet it doesn't seem to be recognized by my PC. Questions: 1) How much would the service cost? 2) What timeline can I expect? 3) Can you pick up the HDD from my business or do I have to personally deliver it?

Hard drive failure on a Seagate 500gb SATA Drive not detectable by external reader or laptop. Looking for quote at this stage – data lost is personal baby photos, and its the HR director for the company!

In this post I've combined together several enquiries for data recovery services from customers in or around the Liverpool area. I'm including Chester here too.

Solid State Drive Won't boot. I want to take some files from it, There are just a few files I need from it importantly that are irreplaceable. My mobile worstation is a m6800 and it says drive doesn't install, check cables.

My 2TB Seagate Backup Plus with not show the drive and the data. Makes beeping sound if ear is placed close to hard drive. Please email as currently working in Liverpool and can't get to a phone because of the type of work I'm doing. If it helps, I live in Aintree and I know there is a local data recovery business in Horton House Liverpool, just behind Exchange Flags.

Hard drive keeps clicking. The computer is recognising it but you cant access the data. Light keeps flashing on the drive. Drive is a WD my passport ultra. I have a fair amount of money to spend on getting this data recovered, so I'm looking to get the recovery done. I don't want to have to take out a second mortgage to get the recovery done thou! Ps I'm near Wallasey, Liverpool.

I have a CCTV system, I want the recover the videos thats been overwrite and gone, and I cant review them anymore

Western digital external USB 3 drive with one PCB for both the drive and adapter (external drives usually gave separate pcb for drive and another one connecting sata to USB) Drive gets power, but is not being recognised by Windows, Mac or Linux. I have a computer system that runs my mortgage advisor / brokering business. I don't know about what costs you charge, but if you are perhaps moving house or require mortgage brokering services perhaps we can have a chat and come to some arrangement.

My portable hard drive seems to have stopped working with any of my devices. Makes a clicking noise and then disconnects itself. It has a lot of photos and music stored on it and no other back up.

There is a physical fault on my laptop hard drive (according to the guy in my local computer shop) I would need data recovery of photos/videos and word documents. If that is possible can you give me a price quote and timeframe for the service.

I own a very old Macpro desktop, circa 2006. This Macpro contains equally old 500GB Seagate hard disks. Model name Barracuda 7200.9 (let me know if any further info regarding the disk itself would be helpful). On this disk I had a windows partition installed via bootcamp. After more than 10 years of mostly faithful service this hard disk finally seems to have died. I can no longer boot the windows partition from the disk, and when I boot into Mac OS I can no longer even see the disk being detected by disk utility or system information apps. Even if the hard disk is dead, there is still data on the disk that I would like to recover. I wanted to come to you to see if this was possible, and if so, if you could give me a quote for recovery from such a disk. Let me know if I can provide any further info.

I wanted to see if my data can be recovered. My OS crashed and I couldn't access my HDD. I tried to boot up Ubuntu to access the files (was previously on Windows 10), but in doing this I accidentally formatted one of the partitions from NFTS to ext4. I can't access the files and want to know if this can be recovered. How much will this cost and what is the lead time?

I was copying some files and suddenly the external hard drive froze. I just unplugged it without stopping it properly and now I cannot access my files anymore. It says: F is not accessible. The disk structure is corrupted and unreadable. I cannot remember dropping the device or causing any other physical damage.

Barry says: Disk structuring problems can be simple or difficult to sort out - it depends on the problem. Whether the data is recoverable or not also depends on the problem. Usually Windows machines are easier to work on than Apple ones because of the way the filesystem works. You can contact me direct or try an independent expert like Data Recovery Tips (UK).

I have a Western Digital 'My Passport' external hard-drive that is constantly clicking and is not being detected by my MacBook Pro anymore. I usually use this for Time Machine Backups, but there are also home movies and music files on there as I have no space left on my MacBook hard-drive. I checked the WD website and it is no longer under-warranty. The guidance on the website suggested that it may be that the USB cable is faulty; however, the attachment to the hard-drive is not a type that I have seen before and I cannot find anyone with this cable. Are you able to give guidance/support and a quote for repair please?

Harddisk was run over by a tractor ! Very little damage externally…opened files successfully twice since…now light comes on when you plug it in & it 'fires up' but it is not recognised / does not open on laptops.

I have a Transcend Storejet 1 TB hard drive. Been working perfectly but after removing it from PC yesterday and going out with it, it now fails to be recognised by PC. A window just comes up saying need to format the drive. Previously it was listed in the storage as Transcend, not it is just listed as drive J. How much would it cost to recover the data. I am based in Huddersfield

Do you have any physical office in London where I can bring my hard drive to recover deleted information? Thank you in advance.

Seagate back up plus 1TB. The devise registers when plugged in but no icon appears and unable to access data on it. Funny ticks and noises and feels very warm when plugged it. I have a load or word files for university that inneed to recover if possible.

My WD external drive has failed in typical way, light is blinking, clicking sound, disk doesn't appear.

Drive won't connect to PC, had a quick check up (no attempted data recovery yet, drive hasn't been opened) and was told it is probably an issue with the power?

Here are some examples of computer problems that I regularly fix - please contact me if you would like me to solve your computer problem.

Slow Server 1TB USB Portable Hard drive, Drive was used on a server to store media(images&Video) when the drive died it caused the server to slow to a crawl also now makes a ticking noise. drive detected on PC briefly and then crashes.

Toshiba Canvio not powering up My Toshiba Canvio 3tb external hard drive won't power up. I've had it since October 2014 and it holds a lot of photos, videos and music on there.

Seagate Expansion not recognised Seagate Extension 5TB Drive is now not being recognised by my Mac. Making a short beeping sound and no light flashing as it normally would be. Drive is not showing on disk utility and also causing Mac to crash when plugging in on occasion.

WD with Failure Symptoms My HDD has most of the failure symptoms: clicking noise, beep, not recognised by the computer. It's a WD My Passport 1TB HDD, could you give me a call back starting July 13 (out of the country at the moment) or email back anytime, to discuss how much it will cost to repair and how long will it take?

I dropped my Samsung M3 1TB portable hard drive. It powers up when connected to a computer, but doesn't show up on it, and makes a beeping noise for approximately 10 seconds before stopping. Probably its USB connector port is broken. What are your prices for data recovery?

I recently had a free evaluation from Kroll for a 1TB Western Digital Passport External HD and it was found that it had an internal mechanical failure but a very good chance of data recovery (77% – 100%). Before I sent it, it had been suffering from the "click of death." However, the quote they gave me to recover was very, very expensive, so I was wondering that price range Data Clinic would charge to recover the data? I was recommended your service by a company in York.

Iphone 6 is dead, won't charge or turn on. need to recover data that was not backed up on the cloud namely whatsapp messages, photos since 23/12/2016, notes, videos

Phone wont turn on need phone numbers and pictures - water damage/no longer works or even powers on. I just need to recover the photos

I lost my mobile phone and I need to retrieve phone numbers that are on the lost device

Samsung mobile: Sd card faulty or just disappeared. We were on holiday and and was looking at photos just taken, turned around to show them to my husband and they had disappeared! !! SD card not detected by mobile and my holiday photos gone.

My iPhone is stuck on the apple logo a lot. There is also signs of a red screen too. I tried to update the software but it said I need to restore it t factory settings. I haven't backed up my iphone so I will lose all my informations, photos, data, and so on. I really don't want my photos to disappear, so I really need help with this.

My phone is completely broke smashed and dead but would like to get the pictures off it as they mean a lot

Do you think you'll be able to recover photos from my iPhone 6 which crashed during an iOS upgrade? The phone is now stuck in Recovery Mode and it just shows error 56 whenever I try to upgrade it using my Macbook. I have sent it to Kroll On Track and they said: The software is severely damaged and has ‘cracked’. There is no way to bypass this to access the contents of the device. The data will not be recoverable. The only option would be a repair of the phone, if required. Do you have a different data retrieval method?

My Sony experia z5 was dropped in salt water accidentally after I had the screen repaired and it was not waterproof anymore. I have left the device in rice for 2 days but it won't turn on at all. Could you please advise the likelihood of recovering the data from my internal storage, how much this would cost and how long it will take roughly? Could you please respond via email as I have no phone at the moment!

From all these examples above - it's easy to see how much we value the data on our mobile phones! - Please back your data up!!

Continuing on from a previous blog post of mine (http://techgeek.posthaven.com/phone-not-responsive-lost-data), I have been in touch with more people who are also having phone problems. Rather than bore you with the in's and out's of phone data recovery, I've listed their enquiries. I've not looked at the cases personally, but it should be possible to recover their information in all cases. By the way, if you're wondering what data recovery is all about, have a look at this site: http://www.recover-deleted-data.co.uk/

I would like a data extraction from my iphone 6,the screen is smashed, and I have forgot my pin number ,i did not unfortunately back up the pictures and important messages, contacts etc. How much will this cost to do ?

My son has broken his iphone 6 – screen broken and can not charge at all. He did not back it up at all. Is it possible to get the photos off the phone?

Unfortunately deleted a lot of pictures from my samsung s6 edge phone. Can provide pictures. Mobile snapped by ex. Would like as much data as possible retrieved. Texts, photos etc. Looking for price, timescales etc

Had trouble trasnferring data to SD card. Laptop loaded in windows but didnt detect the hard drive. Plugged in to another source – device ended up crashing. Plugged bag in to laptop – laptop no longer loads beyond black screen

Could you recover data (photos/videos) from an iPhone 6s? Had to have screen replaced and we were not told this would erase all data. Have connected to iTunes but no back up unfortunately. Its like a brand new phone

I have a Samsung S6 mobile phone that will not switch on at all. I accidentally dropped it a couple of months ago, which cracked the screen & the back of the phone. It did work up until yesterday. I have tried re-booting it & connecting it to a computer. The Blue indiactor light at the top of the phone is on / blinking. The phone screen is totally black & un-responsive. I wondered if you think you'd be able to recover the photos I have stored in the phones hard drive?

I have a water damaged iPhone 4s. The phone itself is worthless but I have over a thousand photos plus videos of my children on it I'm desperate to recover. The phone no longer even turns on. Do you think you could help? If so what would it cost all in, absolute total please?

Until next time, Barry.

  • Hard disk has crashed, it has been enclosed in a 2.5" external ide hard disk enclosure. When connected via usb to pc drive not accessible. Need all excel, word and pdf files. Also had two companies set up on sage software which had not been backed up in a while, need access to this information also
  • I have a Western Digital My Passport 500gb ext drive that is making a clicking sound after receiving a slight knock. Windows will not recognise the drive, and I receive a 'fatal' error when trying to access it via Disk Management. I need as many of the files as possible recovered from the drive.
  • MacBook Air, flash storage can't find the hard drive. Apple said SSD needs a firmware update but in order to do that it needs to erase all the data, so I need a backup first or I lose everything (and I don't have a backup)
  • The hard drive has been used for long time, when plugged up the light comes on, but there is no response, the drive does not move, usually you can hear it whine when running. The remote drive is a Freedom 500GB, would you please give me an price for extracting the data, I do not wish to have the drive repaired, I can supply a brand new remote drive for the data to be down loaded to.
  • My 4tb harddrive has stopped working. ATA /SATA password lost
  • Was working perfectly this morning and has completely stopped connecting to my laptop. Work IT guy says that it can be recovered but won't work when plugged in at the moment. I am a teacher and need this sorted immediately. Please let me know the timeline and cost.
  • I have a WD external hard disk and it is not getting detected on any computer that's why I can't access any of my data in it.
  • I have a 5tb Seagate Hard Drive which unfortunatelly fell from the desk on a carpet. When connected to the laptop it shows as a device (I can eject it) but it doesn't actually appear anywhere. I'm interested to know how much it would cost to get it either fixed or have the data recovered.
  • Device not getting detected. Recurring clicking sound, but the platter sounds like it is spinning. Possibly the heads are moving back and forth.

Opening hours are 9am-5pm, Monday to Saturday.

My iPhone restored to factory settings and I hadn't backed up my holiday photos – I'm desperate to get them recovered! My iphone6 was disabled and i had to erase all my data in order to use my phone again. I really want to retrieve all my photos and chat histories if it is possible.

i have a LG G3 which went completely dead a few months ago. Before it went dead there was a error message coming with regards to lack of memory space. Just wanted to know if you would be able to recover any pictures and videos on the phone. And what the charge will be. Also where are you based?

I accidentally deleted videos from what i recorded with the phone camera. It's a Vodafone smart 6. I tried software from the internet like Dr phone for Android and it can not find any videos. What I deleted is what I took in Spain as I did a backup before I went but unable to when I was in Spain. So the date range is from 3 April to Saturday 15 April. The phone in question is turn off and i'm using another phone. I'm enquiring if there is a chance of recovering the lost videos. If so let me know by Email please until tomorrow then you can ring me as I drive for a living.

When i plug my iPhone 6s to the computer, the only option i get was to restore the phone, which i am trying to avoid because I needed the pictures in the phone and they have not been backed up due to short of iCloud storage. I sent the phone to a company but had not been successful in retrieving the data. Hence I am trying to get another opinion on this matter.

Barry's comment: Phone file recovery (otherwise known as 'phone data recovery') includes retrieving information from any type of phone that is broken, unresponsive or no longer accessible. Don't meddle with the phone yourself you'll invalidate your warranty and loose the data you're trying to recover. Seek professional advice - even if you don't use it.

We have a Dell all in one computer using Windows 10. As of today we can't use it. This is the fault code. C:WINDOWS\System32\Logfiles\Srt\SetTrail.txt Could you advise / quote please on the likelihood of recovery and/or repair. We are in Kings Norton. Birmingham B38 0AF THANKS

Harddrive is detected in bios but not in windows or Linux. Makes clicking sound. The laptop it was in wasn't dropped so hopefully it is a system board fault. Please email me as I am out of the country until next week.

My phone died yesterday and will not switch on, please can you recover all phone data I.e. SMS texts, photos, videos, whatsapp etc. The device is a HTC One M7.

I've used the services of Birmingham's Data Clinic several times in the past for the retrieval of file from both an unresponsive hard drive and several mobile phones.

We have a Seagate Laptop SSHD 1000GB from a Dell Inspiron 2350. The PC stopped recognising the HD and we took it to a local PC repair shop who confirmed the HD had failed. We have some files on there which were not backed up which we would like recover.

I have a SSD that has crashed. What is the procedure for sending it to you for data recovery? Would you be able to determine the percentage of recoverable files and the percentage of files unable to be recovered? Do you charge on a sliding scale depending on the percentage of data/files recoverable? What is your range of charges - I'm midlands based near Birmingham and Wolverhampton?

I have a plug in USB hard drive which my laptop stopped recognising. When I plugged it in again it started making a bleeping noise. Can this be repaired or the data (photos) recovered.

My laptop have been dropped and subsequently hdd has been damaged and will not work. How much do you charge for recovery or fixing it?

I have a Freecom Classic SL Hard Drive (160gb) that is probably about 10 years old. I'm located just outside Birmingham, near Wolverhampton. I tried plugging it in for the first time in a while and the power supply sparked a little, then I could see smoke coming out. I'm worried I'll have lost all the data, but if retrieval might be possible I would be hugely grateful.

Most data recovery companies apply a sliding scale of charges for their recovery services which are dependent on how complex the data recovery procedure is that they need to apply in order to recover the files from the device. Companies like Data Clinic will provide you with a cost first. It's up to you if you want to proceed with the recovery or not.

My computer is broken and I would like to retrieve all data, but especially photographs, from it. External USB Hardrive (WD 2TB Passport) fell off desk landing vertically on floor, connector side up. Now when plugged into my Mac, the drive makes a clicking noise and the light flashes. The drive doesn't show in Finder, but appears in Disk Utility, however the single partition is greyed out as if eject. If it makes any difference, the drive was plugged into my RAID server when it broke, however the data had started copying off the drive yet. The drive was about 1/3 to 1/2 full with data, with the majority of it being audio files.

I have and WD Exteranl HD giving a message " the request is failed due to a fatal device hardware error". It has a lot of very important backed up files which I'm desperate to get to as my laptop has been stolen. I wonder how much it cost to get the data off? How long it would take and if you are open next Monday

Failed/failing standalone hard disk. Host OS generates SATA errors (command failures, resets etc.) when trying to access the drive. SMART self tests fail with read errors. Drive is branded as a Samsung "Momentus" but is actually a Seagate ST1000LM024 2.5" 1 TB SATA (used as an external drive via USB). Would like to explore options for data recovery.

My Seagate expansion hard drive is not showing up on my Macbook. I've tried on my friends macbook and it doesn't turn up on disk utility either. There's no problem with the wire as I used it with another hard drive and it worked fine. There are sounds coming from the hard drive that are identical to my other hard drive when plugged in. I'm hoping you'll be able to help with this.

I have a G-Technology GDRIVE Ev ATC External hard drive. I have been using this on my mac book pro for the last 18 months no problem. I have just tried to use it but it is not showing up in the mac book finder. It is showing up on Disk Utility but the volume is greyed out and unmounted. The hard drive light switches on when plugged into the laptop and the hardrive is vibrating suggesting that it is on. But I desperately do not want to risk loosing the video files and video editing projects that are on the hard drive. Is there a way of opening the hard drive and saving the files somewhere else? I am leaving the country on Sunday so this is quite urgent!

I am looking for a price to recover data from an WD My Passport external 1TB hard drive. The drive is clicking so and will not respond. All of a sudden my WD passport wouldn't mount. It wasn't dropped or knocked or anything. I have tried on several comps and with different usb cables in different ports. Disk utility sees it, but it's greyed out and it can't restore it. I ran disk warrior and it failed. Please help! I have to finish a client film on there by Friday!

There was a power cut in our local London area. After I switched my PC back on, I noticed that a large folder and all it's subfolders was now missing from the 'pictures' folder in My PC. This folder contained thousands of image and video files, totalling around 500GB or more. I've used some basic file recovery software that has found most of the image files, but the video files have all come back corrupt.

I have a western digital external hard drive with suspected impact damage. I cannot access or recover any data. Please advise on the cost and procedure of your repair service.

Hardrive was struck against a wooden table. Cracked outercasing but still in tact. when attempting to power up it just powers up then clicks and ceases. Then repeats. No detection thru laptop USB.

External hard drive has stopped working completely. It whirrs briefly into life but then beeps a lot and the motor stops. I have replaced the SATA connection but that has made no difference. Just need to recover data off the drive if possible.

Can not acces the drive. I think is due the drive has been droped , unfortunately. My external hard drive was working yesterday today I couldn't access it. The drive it showing up on the computer but it wont allow access. Could I have someone call me regarding this as all my London dissertation/ university work is on it?

The desktop computer was running a software that was writing files to the hard drive (D). When I came back to the computer the monitor was black and it was not responding and there was no weird noises. I restarted it using the button. When it started the drive (D) was not listed in the explorer, disk manager or device manager. I could not tell if there was any noises from the hard drive or not, but I think it was silent. I have now removed the drive from the computer. OS: windows 7 Hard Drive: 2TB Seagate Barracuda 7200rpm SATA 6Gbit/s PS. I would prefer if we could discuss on email and not phone. Then I could call Data Clinic if I think it is necessary.

Here's an interesting enquiry from someone wanting their data back from one of these:

OWC SSD"I had an OWC Aura SSD in my Macbook Pro until Sunday until it stopped mounting when booting up my laptop. I've removed it and put the old original SSD for now. It uses the Sandforce 2281 controller, which I understand makes things very difficult to recover data. Are you aware of any options I have for recovering the data?"

It really depends on what the trouble is with the controller or the SSD main body. Until I have a close look at it I won't know what they problem is. In the meantime have you thought about looking on the web and trying some DIY data recovery on it yourself? Sites like Data Recovery Tips provide excellent advice on what people can try themselves to retrieve inaccessible data from their hard drives. My first recommendation is therefore to browse this site and see if you can find any useful information. If you are still stuck please come back to me and I'll see if I can recover the data for you.

The port to my Seagate portable hard drive is broken and has come out completely from the port. I am in need of someone to retrieve all of my documents from the hard drive please? I've had data recovered by Datlabs data recovery in the past with much success

500GB 3.5" Toshiba hard drive, approx 7-8 years old. The drive has not suffered any knocks, drops or spilt drinks but has simply stopped reading data and is making a clicking noise as though it is having trouble spinning up. I have tried accessing the data through a USB data cable to no avail. I would simply need the photos retrieving from the drive if possible. Could you please provide me with a ballpark quote for the work?

I have WD My Passport USB HDD which has developed a fault. I cannot open the drive and get the an error saying a hardware fault has been encountered. When I opend the disk a message appeared asking me to scan and repair the disk. This process ran for an hour or so and appears to have stalled near the end. Is there anything you can do to retrieve the data from the disk?

SSD is used as main boot drive. PC now boots straight into BIOS and SSD isn't showing in BIOS at all. Tried using different cables and ports but no luck. Is this SSD recoverable?

i have a toshiba external hard drive and it wont read on our computers. it has power, the light is on and i can hear a whirring but its not recognised by my laptop. HELPPPP!!!

My external hard disk (Western Digital – My Passport 0740) is not recoginzed by any system from past 1 month. The disk management shows it as "Not Initialized". Do you offer resolving the issue and if so, what is the price you charge for the service.

I have an old Seagate Expansion External Drive that i dropped as it was connected to my laptop and this broke the connection. I have taken it apart but I cant solider the connection back and wanted a quote to recover everything on the drive.

I have a samsung galaxy S4 mini that doesnt start at all, it happened suddenly. I tried to repair it but every shop i went said it is not possible without reseting the phone completely. Thus i would like to retrieve all the data inside. Is it possible? and if so what are the costs?

2013 Macbook Pro 13", hard drive error meant a new one had to be installed by Apple, they have given me the old hard drive, and recently my dad passed away, it has stored on it, a load of his last pictures, and all of my A level course work which I really need asap! Please help me.

My iphone 6 plus just died on me this morning. Stuck at the apple logo screen. I need my pictures and notes to be recovered please.

My girlfriend's external hdd has recently stopped working. There was no damage or accident caused to it that we are aware of. It seems to power up and we can hear the disks spin, but it isn't detected on either my PC or her laptop. This is trying with two different cables as well. I suspect that the problem may be the USB port on the HDD, but I have no idea how to find out/fix it. So we were wondering how much it may cost to fix/if it is possible to fix.

I have a c.4 years old WD My Passport external hard drive formatted for Mac which appears to have broken down since I cannot connect it to any computer. However, as I can hear it spin I believe a data recovery is possible. Please could you provide an approximate fee for recovering the data?

There is water damage, it's a tower unit with 2 drives – i understand them both to have damage.

The connection port on hard drive has dislodged and will not connect to the laptop or computer..I have alot of pictures and videos on the hard drive that need recovering

I have a seagate 500gb expansion hard drive which just makes a clicking noise when connected to my laptop. I would like to know if my photos can be recovered from it.

I think one of my hard drive is very close to failing. It has started making clicking sound and data access is taking too long. I have taken it out of my desktop and attempt to access it with an external docking station instead with the hope I can attempt to recover the data before it failed completely. However, the prognosis is not good. I can see the file structure but the transfer takes a while that I killed it. I have undocked the drive and pop it in a static shield bag. Could you please give me a call back and so that we can discuss if it is possible to recover the data.

A mixture of enquiries in this post for you to enjoy!

Hard drive: It was dropped, now when connected to the computer it doesn't show up.Possibly, mechanical failure. Brand WD elements. Want to fix it ASAP if possible, if not just recover the data.

I have a WD portable HDD. I dropped it & now cannot access any information.
I would like to retrieve my data onto a newly purchased portable solid state hard drive.
How much is this likely to cost?

I dropped my phone on Saturday night. The screen did not shatter but it is clearly damaged. Since then the phone has shown no signs of life at all, including when I plug it in to a charger. I left it plugged in overnight but it still shows no signs of life. I desperately need to access my voice memo files. I'm a journalist and record interviews using my iPhone and I have two important interviews on there from last week. Any help much appreciated.

An external HDD which I sue for backing up and archiving my school's files has stopped working. Machine light comes on but information can not be read from the hdd. Could I please have a quote to retrieve data.

I'm afraid that my WD my book has a mechanic problem and that's why I'm unable to access to my film files.

Are you able to recover/repair corrupt excel file?

It's a seagate 1tb external hard drive, it fell off the bed whilst using it and landed on carpet but now doesn't work. There is a little faint tapping noise for a bit but the blue light on the case doesn't come on.

megatrends "self monitoring system has reported a parameter has exceeded its normal operaing range etc etc"

My sister-in-law has a Freecom 500GB HD with a lifetime of family photos on it. The drive is 'ticking". Of course they're not backed up and she's worried that she's lost these photos. Can you please send a quote as to the cost of recovering the data off this drive.

Having experienced data loss from phones myself I recommend you contact Data Clinic's phone recovery service to advice and assistance.

My client have TESCO HUDEL 2 tablet and he lost all his data..like he did factory reset, he need all the photo and videos, please let me know if is possible and how much with time frame pls..

Purchased a Cubot rainbow mobile phone at xmas as a present for a parent wo has forgotten the password and gmail account linked to phone. Did a hard reset but google wants to verify but can not because SIM card has been deactivated and she can not remeber email address. Would like to revert phone back so I can set it up properly

I have a mobile phone It is a Samsung s6 and was unfortunately water damaged I sent it to a company who said they can mend water damaged phones but unfortunately the mother board had been damaged by the water, is there anyway you able to remove the harddrive from the phone and recover all my photos from the device and put them onto a disc or anything.

My Samsung Galaxy S4 Mobile does not boot up and remains stuck on the logo screen. I want to recover the data such as photos, videos etc. before a factory reset.

Broken iPhone and Samsung phones.data recovery, photos etc I'm wondering if you can help me. I've lost all my photos from my phone's (Lenovo A916) internal memory. I don't know how it happened. Please let me know if recovery of them is possible. I didn't have any back up. Looking forward to hear from you

On my mobile I have an app called xender, which I used to transfer a photo to my friends phone. I deleted the photo around the same time that I had sent it which was in February 2016. The xender app shows that I have sent the photo but I cannot click on it to see it. Is there a way I can recover the photo or is it unrecoverable because I have taken countless other photos since that time.

I have a Sony Z3 and I have some pictures that have gone missing, I've used a program on the computer and I can see the files are there but I'm not able to retrieve them. Would you be able to do this? What would the cost be? Thank you.

Laptop will not turn on and displays error message in regards to system not being able to boot. I have had the hard drive taken out and would like to have important documents and certain system files recovered. It should not take up no more then 2-3GB of space and I can provide my own storage. How much will it cost to recover the files? (see http://www.recover-deleted-data.co.uk/)

Hard drive removed from laptop (not working) and connected to hard drive reader without success. The hard drive does not power up at all. I wondered whether it is still possible to recover data from the hard drive in this state? Laptop only 5 years old.

An external Western Digital hard drive has been dropped :( and the case damaged. I cannot power it up as the power interface itself has suffered damage. Hoping you can work some magic.

My iphone 5 crashed on Christmas day. I have tried to rest multiple times unsuccessfully and today took it to an apple repair centre who said it can be restored to factory setting but I cannot access the photos. Needless to say I have not backed it up for months because i am an idiot. Under normal circumstances I would not be overly concerned but many of the photos stored relate to a family member who died this year and I'm keen to explore all routes of retrieving the photos before I wipe it completely. 1. Is it feasible to recover? 2 How much would it cost.

This morning when working on the computer (Mac), I suddenly lost all partitions on an external hard drive (RAID system, LaCie d2 8TB, Thunderbolt). Some of them re-mounted after a while, but access to the data is extremely slow. Trying to rebuilt directories (using DiskWarrior) of the three unavailable partitions takes for ever and shows a message "Speed reduced by disk malfunction".

All files suddenly disappeared from external hard drive and I didn't delete them. How much would it cost to recover them in the London area?

I think my daughter removed the drive without safely ejecting it. Now when it is plugged in it just requests to be formatted. It is now not recognisable on my MacBook Pro either. I use it to back up my main HP Windows PC but I have before been able to access files when plugging it into my MacBook. The hard drive is an Hitachi 1TB XL1000. In London and have used the excellent services of http://londondatarecovery.pen.io/ before.

Wd My passport Ultra 1TB, hello I've been backing things up from our iMac and the lights are on, the disc is making a noise but its not recognised on my iMac, it is recognised in disk utility, I've tried disc utility and it says unrepairable, one minute then the partition map appears to be okay, can you help ?

My iPhone 5S is stuck in recovery mode. It was water damaged (I jumped in a canal to save a dog!) so I stuck in rice to try and save it. This worked but the home button is no longer functional. And since the iOS update you cannot swipe to enter your passcode. Therefore I turned it off as this forces a pin entry. However when I turned back on it was in recovery mode and has been since. I am not concerned about saving the phone itself, I had actually purchased a new one prior to the canal incident, but I do really want to rescue the photos which irritatingly don't appear in my iCloud photo library. In the last 24 hours the iPhone will charge off my Mac but is no longer recognised as a device.

3 questions in this post from visitors to the Data Clinic web site.

Question: I need a recording on my CCTV that has been overwritten, it will vindcate someone in a police case. Is this possible ??? Please I need this ASAP and am located in Sheffield.

Answer: I'm sorry for you as it is not possible to recover information from a CCTV system where the data has been overwritten.

Question: I have the 5BIG Lacie Raid (30TB Thunderbolt 2 version) and switching it on today it now gives me "Error code -36" in Finder when copying or writing to the drive and when I open Premiere Projects it says "Files damaged or corrupt". Could you please let me know if this is fixable either remotely or should I bring it in to your London data recovery location? FYI all 5 lights on the ride drives are blue and functioning!

Answer: Yes thanks for your enquiry you've probably got bad sectors on one or more of the hard drives that can't be read correctly. This can lead to files becoming damaged or corrupted and also greatly increase the response time of the unit. As you are in London I recommend that you take the RAID into Data Clinic's offices on Lombard Street (next the the Bank tube station)

Question: My old laptop has been left for a couple of years and no longer switches on.

However I have loads of files on there – photos, videos, work etc that I would love to retrieve. Is there anyway that this could be removed from the device? I don't really need the laptop but I would love the pictures in particular, can I call in ? I'm in Northampton.

Answer: Thank you for your question. My first recommendation is that we understand what the problem with your laptop is. If the only thing wrong with it is that it won't switch on then you don't need a hard drive recovery company. You can extract the data yourself. My advice is to get in touch with the people at the Data Recovery Advice web site who will be able to guide you through the steps necessary to retrieve your data.

Thanks for reading! - see you next time.

It's a rather select area to live having the advantages of great motorway links to major cities such as Manchester, Liverpool and Leeds, whilst also being semi-rural in nature.

This makes Edenfield a very attractive place to live and the type of housing available and house prices reflect this. Buying a house in such a prime location as Edenfield can be a tricky proposition. Getting a decent mortgage is imperative as choosing the wrong one may end up costing you thousands of pounds more over the duration of your mortgage.

I asked Andy Butterworth from mortgage specialists Manchester Mortgages what makes a great mortgage. "There are various types of mortgage available: buy to let, first time buyers, homemovers and bad credit mortgages are all specific products that are available - it just depends what type of mortgage you are looking for. And the various types of mortgage will be applicable to individual circumstances." Andy advises against using lenders such as the Halifax who "only provide a small number of uncompetitive mortgages. Instead people looking for a mortgage should use a the services of companies like Manchester Mortgages to find themselves a decent, value for money and cost effective mortgage.

So what does living in Edenfield have to do with hard drive recovery? Well I live in Edenfield and recently I used the services of Andy's company to help me get a mortgage for the house I wanted to buy. As fate would have it, it was actually Manchester Mortgages who contacted me as they had lost access to one of their network shares on their company NAS on which they had all their mortgage offers and deals. Solving the problem was more complex than I thought and involved visits to their Monton, Bury and Wythenshawe branches to sort out their network / cloud routing. Once this had been sorted they were able to bring their mortgage data back online. That's when I got talking to them about my house move, one think lead to another and I soon discovered that by using their services, my house in Edenfield would end up costing me £23,000 less over 25 years than if I went with my first choice provider. So, thank you Andy and Manchester Mortgages for saving me the best part of £25000!!!!

I successfully fixed 2 of the faults myself, the others ones that I couldn't do were expertly recovered by the techs at Data Clinic - in London, Manchester, Leeds and Sheffield.
  • Is there any way to retrieve photographs taken on Iphone 5 during 2015/16 but were deleted on 11 June 2016? No itunes or Icloud back up was made – the photographs were just kept on the phone. I have rung Apple and they have confirmed it is not possible to retrieve once deleted and it does say on the mobile phone on the deleted photos page that after so many days the photos are deleted permanently.
  • NAS hardware failure (Iomega). Lenovo, who now own the Iomega company, advise me that it is a hardware failure and to contact a data recovery firm. This is not time sensitive, nor is it important documents… it is pure sentimental. Photo's, music, website documents, etc, etc.
  • I HAVE NOKIA MODEL rm-1012 is it possible to get the deleted messages from the phone please if so how much as they appear to be in memory as showing deleted, I have found on net a code to put in but it comes up do you wish to restore it would this do it ?
  • I'm looking to buy Western Digital WD10EZEX-08Y20A0 hard drives. Do you have any for sale? If so, how many? Dropped hard drive. When plugged in after it Initially mounted but then stopped (linux os). Now doesn't show in linux, Windows finds the drive but cannot access files. Mechanical sounds, drive sounds like it spins up when powered but then goes to a constant mechanical clicking sound.

If you've lost access to your data please get in touch - if I can't help I can always get you a special discount rate with Data Clinic !

I've been told by a mobile repair company that my Samsung Galaxy Note 3 is water damaged and beyond repair. Although I am pretty sure it hasn't been submerged in liquid at any point they say this may be from condensation from the shower. The phones screen is blank and sometimes you can see a faint green line at the top of the screen. It vibrates when you turn it on and the touch buttons light up. There is a security code on the phone so when i attempted to extract the files myself using my laptop I was not able to because of this. I wish to retrieve the photos, videos, contacts and messages from the device.

My passcode is no longer working on my iphone 6 after update, my touch ID was working. I foolishly restarted the phone hoping it would fix itself but then it only accepts passcode after restart.
Please help me recover my photos and videos as they are the most important thing on my phone that I do not want to lose.

I have dropped my laptop (lenovo) and it crashed. It started making a strange noise and now when I try to switch it on it makes the strange noise and doesn't do anything but loading the starting page. I had a similar problem with an old laptop and I have been told it was the hard drive.
As I have important files saved in the laptop therefore I was wondering if it is possible to recover data (or at least a list of the data contained). I have an exam next week and a paper is saved there, therefore it is an urgent matter. Please let me know what you think

After resetting my password, all the data on my iPhone 5s was deleted, all photos, videos, etc. I need to know if it's possible to recover it and how much would it cost?

Sony Xperia Z will not charge and has run out of battery. I have some contacts and photos on there which I would like to recover. How much will this cost and how long will it take?

HELP – My Tesco DVD-R disc has stopped working. It was fine until I tried to transfer a video onto it from my lap top. The disc won't play in the DVD player either. We have several years of photos on this disc and wondered if it was possible to recover them and how much would it cost.

I have a Seagate slimline 1TB external hard drive that has stopped working and I would like to recover what is on it. Can you help and if so what will the cost be?

External 1TB drive Verbatim (Samsung) which was dropped and now will not spin. Power to device is working however when connected it is clear (and audible) that disk will not spin.

Have a Seagate 500gb external HDD which stopped being recognised by the PC. It kept beeping and doesn't sound like its reading.

My zenphone 5 battery damaged and toch also damaged…so how i will recover my photo and video from it???

Qote of how much to recover pictures and videos from a broken iPhone 6s, broken by being dropped in a swimming pool.

Had a power outage and loss of power to my computer appears to have killed the hard disk. It;s 2.5" mechanical laptop, 500Gb, 5400. How much would recovery be at lombard street branch?

I want to recovered all data documents and picture from my failed hard disc, and how much cost and if you can do

I have a USB Memory stick which was knocked. I sent it to a company to have a look at the usb and they sent it back with the chip disconnected from the borad, is it still repairable if so how much would it cost?

The hard drive on my Apple MacBook Pro has failed. After taking it to the Apple Store they advised me to take it to data recovery before they install a new one.

I emailed about a portable hard drive that I need the data recovered from. It is a seagate device. Please can someone call me back.

Enquiry: My Hard Drive recently packed in. It was running ok the night before (although in retrospect after being asked about it, I'd heard it click a couple of times), but when I booted it up I kept getting an error message saying windows couldn't be found.
So on boot up I went to the BIOS menu to see if something had reordered the drives and discovered the hard drive couldn't be read. I then took it to a repair shop and they attempted to diagnose the problem (it was them who asked about the clicking). They left it over night for a diagnostic and said that on a couple of occasions the Hard Drive was picked up but the only info they could get off it was garbled nonsense. They said that they thought that the heads may have failed on the Hard Drive and that wasn't something they could fix and recommended someone else. The 2nd person came to the same conclusion and said he didn't want to tamper with the heads either as it wasn't something he could fix and so he recommended you.

The only other note I can think of is that the laptop seemed to be running quite hot leading up to the failure, but as I've replaced the hard drive this doesn't seem to be the problem. For reference, I live in Liverpool, just in case you need to refer me to that office.

My Response: What you have described there is a hard drive that is about to completely fail. It probably didn't help that the first repair shop you took it to kept it switched on last night. If a hard drive is running hot and slowly then my recommendation is to switch the hard drive quickly and wait a while for it to cool down - don't put it in a fridge or freezer and this will put unnecessary stress on the hard drive, instead let is cool naturally.

When it's completely cooled you can attach it again and attempt to copy your files off of it asap. If you are successful at this then you've had a lucky escape. If the hard drive begins to run slowly or is not recognised then I'm afraid it's too late for you to do anything - the hard drive is already badly damaged. If you need to remove the data from it you'll need to contact a data recovery company.

Finding a Data Recovery Company

You can look for a local data recovery company but my experience is that good data recovery companies a few and far between. Make a distinction between a data recovery specialist and a PC repair shop. They are not the same beast at all. Even though the shop may claim to perform data recovery, it's capabilities will be no where approaching what the data recovery company can do. The best way I've found is to do a countrywide internet search and then look at the reviews of the company. Another useful method is to look for bloggers who write about data recovery and hard drive issues - if you are in the UK you can visit the Recover Deleted Data web site. It deals in answering questions about all types of data recovery, not just retrieving deleted data.

Usually I get asked a lot about broken hard drives but sometimes I get cases where there is nothing wrong with the customer's hard drive but instead something on the hard drive is giving them problems.
There now follow a few examples:

I would like to ask you about my issue and help me. It is installed Checkpoint FDE for Dell Laptop latitude E 5440 then it was slow to encrypt and then it could not boot into Windows 8.1. I noticed this page written by data recovery experts data clinic about recovering drives that use Checkpoint's Endpoint FDE (http://www.dataclinic.co.uk/recovering-check-point-endpoint-fde-encrypted-hard-drives/)

Non-system drive (E drive) from desktop PC spins but isn't detected in Windows 10 or BIOS. Internal 3.5" SATA drive. 2TB capacity with about 60-80% used.

My laptop was broken and I'm trying to recover all files in there because it contains all my PhD work. I've sent it to a repair shop and I think they have to do something to the hard drive. but they couldn't recover all data. If I send it to you would you be able to do something to the hard drive?

I have transferred photos/videos etc onto a 1TB Samsung HD (500 gig 'ish) on a PC rebuild. Win 10 is running on a 250gb SSD.
All went fine for a couple of days then HD began to click but still booted and was recognised. Next day clicking and not recognised. Removed it and had a quick look but beyond my capabilities! I've got a 2 TB external to drop everything on to…

We have a hard drive of a customer that has a faulty controller card. The drive spins ok, but is no longer recognized by the computer indicating that the controller card is faulty. Do you offer repair services to replace the controller card and fix the drive?

The drive is a WD 250GB
Model: WD2500BEVT

My external hardrive failed today by making a clicking noise. the drive is still seen by the computer but no longer as a working storage device. It contains several thousand family photographs and other documents. the unit is a 500gb capacity. I would like a quote for retrieval please. Many thanks. A late afternoon call would be best.

WD 2TB USB 2.0 spinning disc external hard drive with external power supply. The device shows up on Devices and Printers but not in windows explorer. Shortly after connecting the driver starts to make clicking noises.

By far the most interesting fault here was the Endpoint encrypted drive and in all cases it's usually possible to recover the files for the customer.

I've found some decent HDD related recovery info at

This post features a selection of data recovery enquiries from people with hard drive and NAS problems who need their files retrieved.

Data recovery enquiry from a reseller
Hello, we are a computer and laptop repair shop in Hounslow, London.
I have got job from my customer to recover data from a laptop hard drive.
Hard Drive Details, HGST, 1TB
and its giving clicking sound you when you plug in.
can you give me quote to recover data from it. please consider that we have to charge our services from customer as well.

NAS
I have a ready Nas duo, that has developed a fault and will not boot or connect since we last turned it on.
I have read various options online about possible things to do, but in the spirit of i don't won't to fix it worse thought i would seek expert help.

HDD
I have a western digital My Passport Ultra (1TB) external hard drive.
It initially started to take a long time for folders to open and to access files. I began to back up the hard drive (taking hours to back up only a small amount of data).
Now the drive is not visible in Windows explorer. I have the option to "safely remove it" and I can also see it in "devices" and "device manager" but cannot actually see the drive to open any folders.
Any suggestions as to how to get access? or is it possible for you to recover the data (there's almost 900GB)? and how much would it cost?

My WD hard-disk is working till morning. Now, my computer is recognising it but not reading it. Also, in disk management it's showing unallocated.
What shall I do? Please advise.

External usb 3.0 drive
Verbatim enclosure
Hitachi Z5K500-500
500GB 2.5" SATA
Initially was detected by PC but inaccessible. No strange noises, disc was spinning.
A few restarts later, disc still spins, continuous clicking. Completely undetectable by PC.

Help Recover Data From Hard Drive
The hard drive on my MacBook Pro laptop has a physical problem – I have taken it into an apple genius store and they told me the only way to try and get my data back is from a company such as yourselves. I need my documents – I work freelance and have all my relevant paperwork on my hard drive. Plus my photos from the last 2 years.

My MacBook Pro's Internal Hard drive (Mid 2012 Non-Retina) recently started making noises and the laptop pretty much doesn't respond to anything anymore or if it does only very slowly. I am quite sure that the hard drive is in its last breaths and a backup to an external hard drive did not succeed either unfortunately. BIOS recognises drive and windows occasionally detects and installs. However cannot read or access. The heads seem to be cycling around. No clicking i.e. hitting the end stop. Was working fine then failed to boot correctly followed by no access.
What can I/you do to save my files?

The problem with your Macbook Pro sounds very much like bad sectors - parts of the hard disk that can no longer be accessed by the computer. It's a very common problem and far more widespread than you think. The likes of you and I hardly ever notice this or come into contact with it because the hard drive has a built-in bad sector management program that swaps out bad sectors and replaces them with good sectors whenever a bad sector is encountered.

Bad sectors do not go away or diminish, instead they grow as it's the only things they can do, eventually spreading across an entire hard drive. A good guide you can use is the slower your hard drive becomes, the more likely it is to have a high number of bad sectors. If you don't have a backup of your data then bad sectors will eventually lead to you losing all your data.

Retrieving the data from hard drives with bad sectors is possible, but you'll need a data recovery company to do it for you. These company's have specialist pieces of hardware equipment that are able to read 'through' the bad sector and get at the original data underneath. I recommend companies such as this one or http://24hourcomputerrepairs.com/ should you be looking for a data recovery provider.

New Phone Data Recovery Service
Data Recovery Tips (http://data-recovery-tips.co.uk/), the UK data recovery service has recently started to provide phone data recovery in addition to hard drive recovery.

Having used this service provider before and had good results I will now also be sending broken phones I receive to have their data extracted to them.

A recent number of phone recovery enquiries are reprinted below: in each case Data Recovery Tips have a service to retrieve the data. Alternative service providers are recommended at http://blogs.rediff.com/data-recovery/.
Iphone 6s got dropped in water, was put in rice. It did not turn on, attempted screen replacement. The screen came on but was extremely dim until last night and screen stopped coming on. Need backup of all data.

  • I need to retrieve a number from Feb 25th of this year on an Iphone. It is not left on the call history log, since Iphone only stores the last 100 calls which means about a month back in time. Can you help me retrieve it?
I have heard about your services all the way to Sweden and that is why I am going to London next week to have this phone number recovered.
Therefore, I will show up on Wednesday morning on June 8th and am leaving for Stockholm on Friday morning June 10th at 6.30 AM.
Therefore, I would like to kindly ask if I could collect my USB stick with the lost phone number on Thursday June 9th, before you close at 6 PM. I definitely need this number with me on my flight back, perhaps you could make an exception and wonder how much that costs extra? Money is not an issue. I have to get the data recovered before I leave.
Please, call me as soon as possible to make an appointment on Wednesday, in order for you to be able to retrieve the phone number before my departure.
  • Phone was dropped in toilet by my son and was in there for a minute while turned on. I took it out and turned it off. About 10 minutes later the battery seemed to get really hot. Later that day I put it in one of those drying bags with drying crystals after opening it up and taking screen off. I left it in there 5 days. Now it have tried to turn it on but it is dead. I need to recover about 32gb of info which is mostly photos and videos. I live in Herts and work in London.
  • I have a samsung s7 edge that fails to boot. I have contact and messages that I would like recovered from the phone, is this something you can help with?
  • My Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini was recently infected with a virus. I had to perform a systent restore and wipe the phone in order to be able to use it again. The problem was that after the restore I realised that I had not backed up my data and as a result lost all my pictures. I am aware that it is possible to retrieve data after a system restore. Would it be possible for you to retrieve my data from my phone.

Dropped my external hard drive yesterday (Western digital 1TB P/N:WDBMWV0020BBK-05) and now it will not connect to pc. It just sits making a ticking sound for a couple of minutes, then shuts off completely. My hobby is in photography and It contains a number of photographs that I have been working on for the past few months.

I dropped a passport WD USB 3.0 2tb portable drive . It was powered on but unplugged as it fell 1m onto the floor. Afterwards it still read the folders (800gb of data) but was much much slower at going through the sub folders and then opening small word documents. PowerPoints opened too slowly to be useful to me. As it was under warranty I took it back to Curry's know-how dept for their £80 data recovery. I also sent off a new USB drive to copy the data too. After 2 weeks I have been told their software could not recover the data as is a mechanical issue and they need to do an advanced recovery where they open the drive to repair parts. This would cost me some £200 odd pounds but would be free if they failed to recover the data. I've read your website and now I'm concerned the data that was barely accessable may have been damaged by them. I'm waiting for the drive to be returned to check it. Have you any advice? Contact by email would be preferable as I teach.

I have a 'Transcend StoreJet' Harddrive and have dropped it. It's one of those portable hard drives that plug into the USB port on a computer. Since then It doesn't work, I have tried new cables but it still isn't working. I have a lot of work on it so need to get the work off it.

Portable hard drives such as the ever popular WD Passports are usually the recipients of some rough treatment. They are built to withstand knocks and bumps, but a fall from a significant height is going to cause serious problems to the hard drive. This problem is common to all portable hard drives, including the Transcend Store Jet and other external hard drives. At the heart of the problem is the mechanical nature of these hard drives. When one of these drives is operating a mechanical arm known as an 'actuator arm' moves across the surface of the hard drive reading and writing data to the hard disk. A significant knock or bump during the operation of the hard drive results in damage to either the actuator arm, the disk, or both. This then causes the hard drive to make a ticking sound, as the drive tries to pass a self test procedure before passing control to the computer. This testing procedure will never succeed as the hard drive is now damaged to a significant extent. Retrieving the data from a dropped external or portable hard drive often relies heavily on experts who should be able to repair and restore the information from a damaged hard drive. Rather than meddle with a dropped hard drive I recommend you use one of these expert companies and give yourself at least a fighting chance of getting your data back.

Mobile and smartphones break in many ways. We believe that once a phone is broken that it's not possible to recover the data from it. This is not true, skilled phone data recovery organisations like England's Data Clinic (see http://www.dataclinic.co.uk/data-recovery-from-mobile-devices-phones-tablets-etc/) can get the data back from almost any type of damaged or broken phone.

No Power To Phone

Samsung s2 mobile phone.
No power. Screen slight crack. Need photos videos. Phone numbers recovered.

This shouldn't be too difficult a problem to recover the data from. To me it suggests that the cracked screen has interfered with the phone's circuitry and is preventing it from switching on. Replacement of the cracked screen with a new one and a general clean inside the phone to remove and unseen debris should result in this phone working perfectly again.

Phone Stuck in Boot Loop

I have an LG G4 which appears to be stuck in a boot loop. I cannot access recovery and it does not stay on long enough to be able to access it via a computer. While the phone is still under warranty and I can get it replaced, I do not want to lose the large amount of pictures and videos stored on the device. I am keen to locate someone that would be able to recover the photo's and videos from the phone before it goes off to be replaced by LG. The only catch is that the data recovery will need to done without unscrewing the back of the phone to access its motherboard as this will void the warranty and result in me not being able to replace it. Is this something you are able to help with?
I live in Reading and so can pop into local IT provider "Its Gone Funny" if necessary, but ideally would like to know whether its possible.

You don't disclose how your G4 phone got into a boot loop, was it after a software update perhaps or did the phone run out of battery mid operation? Getting the data back from phones that are stuck in boot loops is possible, often by bypassing the operating system (and therefore the boot loop) and reading the information straight off the memory chips. This is a highly skilled task however and should not be left the the unskilled staff in your high street mobile phone repair shop. Instead look for a competent data recovery company, they will be able to assist.

Sony Xperia Dead Battery

I have an unresponsive Sony Xperia T mobile phone which I think has had the battery shorted with all possible hopes to switch it back on gone. If I have the phone, with a dead battery, is there still the possibility to recover files previously saved on the internal memory via some sort of chip off process? I'm based in the city of London only 5 minutes from Bank which would be easiest Data Clinic office to get too. Just preliminary inquiry at the moment to check viability.
